Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, has been spotted wearing a new pair of blue topaz earrings from London-based jeweler Robinson Pelham. This isn't the first time Middleton has chosen this brand for special occasions, and the earrings have a special connection to her family.
They are the creation of London-based jeweler Robinson Pelham, who shared the same earrings on their Instagram account, and they are available online for a cool $7,584. These shield-shaped blue topaz earrings include a slim, elegant half moon and drop shield gemstone, shapes which are exclusively cut for Robinson Pelham, the brand noted. It’s not the first time Middleton has gone to the jeweler—founded in 1996 by a trio of women—for an important public event.
In 2011, Kate’s parents Michael and Carole Middleton commissioned a special pair of earrings from Robinson Pelham as a wedding present for their daughter. The brand later announced that the earrings, which were designed to match the Cartier Halo Tiara she wore on her wedding day, also featured acorns in reference to the family’s newly designed coat-of-arms. According to Lauren Kiehna of the Court Jeweller, Kate also owns another pair of blue topaz and diamond earrings from the brand, set in a girandole shape, which she debuted at the reception following the wedding and subsequently wore to the 2016 premiere of the movie Spectre. Earlier this year, Kate was spotted in another stunning piece of new jewelry, a sapphire and diamond eternity ring in place of the Ceylon sapphire engagement ring that used to belong to Princess Diana. At the time, speculation abounded that the ring might have been a gift meant to honor the difficult year that Kate had following her cancer diagnosis last spring. On Christmas, her ring finger was covered by a black glove so it was impossible for the public to see which one she was sporting. Most of the royal women wore subtle pieces of jewelry on the Sandringham walk, including pearl and gold earrings for Princess Anne and peridot earrings for Princess Beatrice, but Queen Camilla did break one familiar piece out of the vault for the occasion. The queen wore two matching diamond-encrusted ivy leaf brooches that Queen Elizabeth II originally received for her 21st birthday
