Brendan Rodgers' hunt for a new goalkeeper could finally be nearing an end as reunion with former Leicester star on the cards
The Danish international is a free agent after his deal with Belgian outfit Anderlecht expired and looks set for a reunion with Brendan Rodgers , according to Fabrizio Romano. The 37-year-old played under Rodgers at Leicester, winning the FA Cup having previously lifted the Premier League title with the Foxes with Claudio Ranieri at the helm in 2016.
Now he's eager for a new challenge in the twilight of his career and the chance to win trophies and play Champions League football with the Hoops is proving a tempting one. Currently, Scott Bain is the champions' first choice keeper after Joe Hart hung up his gloves following the Scottish Cup Final win over Rangers and the search has been on since he announced his retirement earlier this year.
Celtic have also been linked with Newcastle United's Martin Dubravka, and Record Sport exclusively revealed that they were set to go back in for Peter Vindahl jensen of Sparta Prague. But now reports claim that Schmeichel is in discussions over a move and a deal could be concluded in the coming days.
