The White House announced a ban across 625 million ocean acres on the day the 2024 election is set to be certified in President-elect Donald Trump’s favor. This ban includes acres off the East Coast, plus the California, Oregon, Washington, and Alaska coasts and the eastern Gulf of Mexico.
“This is a disgraceful decision by the Biden administration. And I say the administration because we all know Joe Biden doesn’t know what is going on. This isn’t him. This is radical Left environmental extremists in his administration who don’t care about what is in the best interest of the American people,” Leavitt said on Fox News’s“But this is going to be Joe Biden’s legacy.
According to Leavitt, Trump is already considering how he can possibly rescind this executive order and expedite the permits pending for oil drilling. Biden’s ban will not go into effect for drilling operations that already have permits and leases.
Trump tried to reverse similar bans from former President Barack Obama but came up short in his legal battle. In 2019, a U.S. district judge ruled that this type of ban could only be undone by Congress.
