Karen Gillan is open to returning to DoctorWho as Amy Pond, but she would want to do it with Matt Smith and Arthur Darvill. 'Never say never. If I was asked, I would be really, really interested and keen. It would be really amazing.'
Former Doctor Who star, Karen Gillan, has said that she would be interested in reprising her role as Amy Pond with a particular desire to reunite with her co-stars, Matt Smith and Arthur Darvill. In 2010, the modern era of Doctor Who underwent its first soft reboot following the incredibly successful 2005 revival by Russell T. Davies, which saw the program at the height of its popularity under the Tenth Doctor, David Tennant.
Gillan instantly endeared herself to audiences as the feisty but vulnerable Pond who introduced a new dynamic into the TARDIS via her husband, Rory Williams , before the two exited the show in 2012.
"Never say never. If I was asked, I would be really, really interested and keen. It would be really amazing. I would like to do it with Matt Smith and Arthur Darvill, if I was gonna go back." Gillan's answer will be encouraging to Doctor Who fans who loved her time on the show and would be eager to see Amy Pond back after her tragic departure in"The Angels Take Manhattan." Given that the"Autocomplete Interview" segments are based on the most popular internet searches related to the subject, it's clear that there is a strong desire to see Gillan come back to the role, no doubt amplified by her huge post-Who career.
While the logistics of actors' schedules may be one thing, there may indeed be an opportunity to see the TARDIS trio of Gillan, Smith, and Darvill reunite on the horizon. The upcoming 60th anniversary of Doctor Who is set to be marked by a special episode in November 2023, which will be helmed by Russell T Davies as he begins a second stint as showrunner.
