Karaoke bar owner gets 10 years jail for fire that claimed lives of three firefighters

Vietnam: During the pandemic, Hung ran his business without proper permits and fire prevention approval.

Pham Duy Hung, owner of ISIS Karaoke in Quan Hoa, Cau Giay were presented with a sentence of up to 10 years in prison on Monday for 'violations of firefighting and fire prevention rules'.

The SPP considers this to be a case of serious violation of fire prevention and fighting regulations, resulting in particularly severe consequences, leading to the sacrifice of three firefighters. Therefore, the SPP believes that the defendant should be dealt with severely to serve as a deterrent and a lesson.

The usual singing sessions lasted from 11am on the previous day to 2am the following day. Around 1pm on Aug 1, 2022, a fire broke out on the seventh floor and quickly spread throughout the entire karaoke lounge.
