2 Purdue moved up a spot with two easy opening wins and received seven first-place votes. No. 3 Arizona took a giant leap from No. 12 after beating Duke and had three first-place votes. No. 4 Marquette moved up a spot, as did defending national champion Connecticut, which received a first-place vote to round out the top five. No. 24 James Madison moved into the poll for the first time after taking down Michigan State in overtime. The Spartans (1-1) fell 14 spots to No. 18, while Duke (1-1) dropped seven spots to No. 9. Genome-wide association study identifies bacterial SNPs associated with host body mass indexA new study has identified bacterial single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) associated with host body mass index (BMI) through a metagenome-wide association study (MWAS). The study discovered 1,358 statistically significant associations between bacterial SNPs and BMI, with 40 independent associations.
