A beloved radio disc jockey and diehard Kansas City Chiefs fan was killed Wednesday as shots rang out and marred the NFL team's victory celebration that ended with at least 22 others injured.

Kansas City officials confirmed that a shooting at the Kansas City Chiefs' Super Bowl parade left one person dead and 21 people injured. Among the victims were at least eight children, officials said during a news conference on Wednesday. "I’m angry at what happened today," Kansas City Police Chief Stacey Graves said. Graves said three people had been taken into custody and has heard that fans may have been involved in apprehending a suspect but couldn’t confirm that.

We thank the local law enforcement officers and first responders who were on-scene to assist," the statement read. Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, as well as other Chiefs teammates, called for prayers after the deadly shooting. The National Football League also released a statement on X, calling the shooting "senseless." "We are deeply saddened by the senseless shooting that occurred today near the end of the rally in Kansas City for the Chiefs.
