In addition to hiring additional domestic violence prosecutors and victims’ advocates, the grant will allow the office to provide intervention services for the defendants of domestic violence cases, hopefully targeting the root causes of domestic violence, Mosser said. While she said she has been able to lower prosecutors’ caseloads, reducing stress on prosecutors and support staff, crime is always changing, Mosser said.
The State’s Attorney’s Office and the Sheriff’s Department have the two biggest budgets of Kane County offices and departments, so that is likely where the Kane County Board will look to make cuts, according to Mosser.
