KUALA LUMPUR: Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) executive director (project management) Datuk Kamarulzaman Mat Salleh has been appointed the new Kuala Lumpur Mayor, effective April 17.

Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali said the appointment was to replace Datuk Seri Mahadi Che Ngah, under subsection 4 of the Federal Capital Act 1960 . "I believe that with his experience, he can further strengthen the governance and functions of Local Authorities implemented by DBKL and continue to benefit the people and the government," he said in a statement Thursday night.
Kamarulzaman, 59, who graduated with a bachelor's degree in Surveying from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia began his career at DBKL in 1991 and has 32 years of experience in city management and Kuala Lumpur City planning policies.Article type: free
