WASHINGTON: Naib Presiden Amerika Syarikat , Kamala Harris dijangka masih berpegang pada buku panduan dasar luar Joe Biden terutama­nya melibatkan isu penting di Ukraine, China dan Iran.

Bagaimanapun, berdepan lawannya, Donald Trump dari Republikan, beliau terpaksa mengakui kelemahan besar khususnya melibatkan situasi bermasalah di sempadan AS-Mexico. “Beliau mungkin di­lihat sebagai ‘pemain’ yang lebih bertenaga, tetapi satu perkara yang tidak boleh dijangka adalah sebarang perubahan besar serta-merta dalam intipasi dasar luar Biden,” katanya yang merupakan bekas Perunding Asia Barat semasa pentadbiran Demokrat dan Republikan.

Semasa Persidangan Ke­selamatan Munich tahun ini, beliau menyampaikan ucapan bernada lantang yang menyelar Russia kerana melancarkan operasi khas ketenteraan di Ukraine. Bagi meningkatkan hubungan di rantau Asia, Kamala me­ngadakan lawatan diplomatik ke Jakarta, September lalu, bagi menggantikan Biden semasa sidang kemuncak Persatuan Negara-Negara Asia Tenggara .
