A second debate may not be in the cards but Harris and Trump will go somewhat head-to-head on October 16 as Harris sits down for an interview with Bret Baier and Trump appears in a town hall with Harris Faulkner.
The Harris campaign slammed Donald Trump on Monday, after the interview was announced, calling out the former president’s media strategy. “As of today, it has been **one month** since Trump’s been interviewed by a mainstream media outlet, as he has backed out of 60 Minutes and refuses to debate again,” Harris campaign spokesman Ian Sams wrote on social media. “Meanwhile Harris is willing to even go on Fox.
Just this month, he pulled out of a CBS News 60 Minutes interview that was a part of the program’s election special, complaining about the fact-checking CBS News would do to complement the interview. Trump had initially agreed to participate in the sit-down, which has been a standing tradition for candidates in a presidential election cycle. CNN also proposed an additional debate date for the two candidates. In consistent form, Harris agreed to participate and Trump refused.
