The energy was high and the excitement palpable as 3,000 supporters filed into West Allis Central High School’s gymnasium, many decked in union affiliations or wearing the Greek letters and colours of Black fraternities and sororities, as well as the same shade of navy blue on the hastily printed ‘Kamala’ placards circulating the room – the first ‘Harris for President’ swag since President Joe Biden ended his re-election bid.
