Nasreddine Nabi says he was very open to join Kaizer Chiefs but the Soweto Giants did not want to make a huge sacrifice.

Kaizer Chiefs missed out on the opportunity to sign former Yanga SC coach Nasreddine Nabi and that has caught up with themlast year before the club hired Molefi Ntseki. However, the move never happened, and the Soweto Giants brought in the former Bafana Bafana coach., hoping to finalise his move to Chiefs, but the talks didn’t go as planned. Instead, the Glamour Boys eventually gave the job to Ntseki who only survived less than 15 games.

“I wanted to give me a chance of coming with at least two members of my technical team who will help me,” Nabi said as quoted by “However, they told me they have individuals with running contracts, and firing them will be expensive.“It became a challenge for me to agree, I realized they cannot help me and I decided to leave them alone.”on a three-year deal at the beginning of the 2022/23 season. Although he was released from his duties as head coach, he still served as Ntseki’s assistant. Ntseki was fired after just four months, with Zwane demoted to the development side.

Nabi was seen as the right coach to turn Kaizer Chiefs’ fortunes around but both parties failed to reach an agreement. The Tunisian coach is currently with FAR Rabat, having joined them late last year.
