Having earmarked Cameroonian striker Bienvenu Eva Nga from the Chilli Boys as revealed by the Siya crew, Chiefs are believed to be also targeting defender Veluyeke Zulu from the Gqeberha-based club as part of the planned changes.With the Soweto giants expected to undergo a squad overhaul in an attempt to bring back the glory days to Naturena and to please the multitude of Amakhosi fans, Zulu has become the club’s latest target, as reported in edition 1269 of Soccer Laduma.
“Kaizer Chiefs is in discussions with Chippa United for the services of defender Veluyeke Zulu. The boy has been impressive for Chippa and has caught the eye of Chiefs scouts with his performances and a possible move for him to the Soweto giants is being discussed,” said a source.“Chippa United chairman Chippa Mpengesi was at Chiefs’ Village in Naturena last week and part of his visit there was to discuss the player’s possible transfer.
Zulu, 27, was in Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos’ preliminary squad for the recently friendly international matches against Guinea and France after impressing with his sublime performances for Chippa this season. The Ulundi-born player has featured in 20 league matches with 19 starts, while collecting a few Man of the Match awards along the way, despite the team’s inconsistent results.
