Kaitlyn Dever has joined the cast of Godzilla x Kong 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the 2021 blockbuster. The film will see the return of the iconic Titans Godzilla and Kong, facing a new world-ending threat.
Kaitlyn Dever has joined the cast of Godzilla x Kong 2. Legendary is currently working on a new MonsterVerse movie, which will see the return of Godzilla and Kong . The film will reportedly feature “several new human characters alongside the beloved and iconic Titans Godzilla and Kong as they face off against a cataclysmic world-ending threat.” It is currently scheduled to arrive in theaters on March 26, 2027.
Dever is the latest addition to the cast, following the announcement last year that Dan Stevens would be joining the sequel. Further details about Dever’s character are still currently under wraps. The film will be directed by Grant Sputore (I Am Mother) from a screenplay written by Dave Callaham. Legendary’s MonsterVerse franchise began in 2014 with Gareth Edwards’ Godzilla, which starred Elizabeth Olsen and Aaron Taylor-Johnson. Following its success, it was followed by several sequels, including 2017’s Kong: Skull Island, 2019’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters, and Godzilla vs. Kong. In addition, the studio has also partnered up with Netflix for an animated Skull Island show that premiered on Netflix in 2023. Besides continuing to expand its film franchise, Legendary is also currently working on its Apple TV+ spin-off series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, which is slated to return for a second season.
