Artist uses K-pop dance video to explore revolution, Vietnamese diaspora in Museum District

Viral K-pop covers are often filmed in universally popular locations, like the Eiffel Tower or a shopping mall. So Severin Nguyen spent two months in Warsaw capturing footage. She even hired a Vietnamese choreographer for the dance moves. Casting the video's main character proved more of a challenge.
Video viewers may recognize the Palace of Culture and Science as a prominent backdrop. The 231-meters tall skyscraper is the highest building in Poland, a controversial gift from Joseph Stalin after the nation's capital was destroyed by Nazi bombs. A Jewish cemetery appears, too. Severin Nguyen wants audiences to consider the meaning behind the taking down of monuments and subtle censorship over the course of history.
