Justin Verlander takes a 6-year look back before facing Astros on Tuesday

At 39, Verlander returned from Tommy John surgery to win a Cy Young award, his third. His final start in an Astros uniform came in Philadelphia, where he threw five one-run innings to earn his first World Series win in Game 5. The Astros clinched in six.

“I obviously didn’t know what was ahead,” Verlander said of his arrival in Houston. “But clearly, it was an incredible run. And I look back so fondly on my time here. It was a wonderful chapter in my career, and I am very thankful for it.”
