Justin Verlander takes a 6-year look back before facing Astros on Tuesday

The Astros received their World Series rings for the 2022 title before their March 31 season opener. The diamond-studded design invited studying.
Verlander is slated to start Tuesday. He will face several members of the team he helped to a title last year with a remarkable comeback season. At 39, Verlander returned from Tommy John surgery to win a Cy Young award, his third. His final start in an Astros uniform came in Philadelphia, where he threw five one-run innings to earn his first World Series win in Game 5. The Astros clinched in six.
“I obviously didn’t know what was ahead,” Verlander said of his arrival in Houston. “But clearly, it was an incredible run. And I look back so fondly on my time here. It was a wonderful chapter in my career, and I am very thankful for it.”
