Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said he was “not aware” of the “erosion of trust” that took place within his government.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau refused to apologize on Thursday for his office's role in the SNC-Lavalin affair, which has rocked his administration in recent weeks and saw the resignation of two key Cabinet members.
"I'm making an Inuit apology this afternoon," Trudeau said."But, in regards to standing up for jobs and defending the integrity of our rule of law, I continue to say that there was no inappropriate pressure," regarding the SNC-Lavalin scandal. In the wake of these allegations, Treasury Board President Jane Philpott followed in Wilson-Raybould's footsteps, submitting her own resignation and asserting that the scandal meant she could no longer support Trudeau's administration.
"Indeed, I expect them to do so," he said."In Ms. Wilson-Raybould's case, she did not come to me and I wish she had."
