With that in mind, is there anything the Steelers can hang their hat on? Pittsburgh has tried to sort out their play-action passing game and run game with no success. "I think we have an identity. I just don’t know what it is, I never heard necessarily an option for an identity,” Fields said. “I think we ran the ball well today. Like I said, I think we just missed shots and shot ourselves in the foot again. So I don’t think we’re one of those teams looking for an identity.
The Steelers might want that to be their identity, but they still had just a 34 percent success rate on first down in this game. Pittsburgh ranks near the bottom of the league in most metrics regarding efficiency, and while they stayed afloat on third down over the first four weeks, they could not do it this week, going just 3 of 12.
