Justin Bieber almost didn't propose to Hailey Baldwin.
, and got candid about what he was going through before he popped the question. By now, everyone knows Bieber and Baldwin got married just two months after he asked and then waited until 2019 to have an extravagent ceremony in South Carolina. But before all the pomp and circumstance, he was still hesitant to seal the deal.
"I was extremely nervous. I felt, like, in the past, we talked about, you know, me asking the question and it felt like she would say yes. So, I wasn't really nervous about the saying yes, but the thing is just, like, I think I was more nervous about, ‘Am I going to make this commitment? Am I able to make this commitment as a man and be able to honor, you know, what I say?'" he said.
"But I finally was like, 'I'm gonna make the decision and follow through with it and be a husband and, you know, this is what I've always wanted. I'm gonna choose this woman and just do it.'" And with that behind him, Beiber says that he's focusing on releasing new music, though he is hesitant when it comes to putting out new material, too. It wasn't until his surprise appearance at Coachella back in 2019 that he even considered getting back into the studio.
"I was afraid of, you know, what people were thinking. I was afraid of, you know, ‘Can I do this again?' I was just battling with that internal fear," he said. "At that point, when I made the decision to just go up there and do it, that was just like, 'OK, I'm ready to do this thing now.'"
