Following the private ceremony, Ginsburg will lie in repose at the top of the front steps of the Supreme Court to allow the public to mourn. The Supreme Court Justices will stay inside the Great Hall, where the casket will be placed on the Lincoln Catafalque, a platform constructed in 1865 to support the casket of former President Abraham Lincoln while his body lay in state in the U.S. Capitol Rotunda, which has been loaned to the Court by the U.S. Congress for the ceremony.
