Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths - Part Three EP Butch Lukic On Honoring Various DC Stories

Summary Butch Lukic looks back at the end of the Tomorrowverse while paying tribute to previous DC franchises in Justice League: Crisis On Infinite Earths, Part Three. While it started back in 2020, everything has a beginning, middle, and end, which is the case for the Tomorrowverse. After ten movies, the creative team is officially concluding the franchise, and to go out with a bang, an animated adaptation of Crisis On Infinite Earths was picked.

1 Screen Rant interviewed Lukic about concluding this universe with Justice League: Crisis On Infinite Earths, Part Three. Lukic reflected on working with Kevin Conroy one last time as Batman after collaborating on numerous DC properties, including Batman: The Animated Series. While the Tomorrowverse may be over, Lukic also looks at the potential of joining James Gunn's DC Universe.

Paying Tribute To Multiple DC Animated Universes With the many universes we saw get honored in Justice League: Crisis On Infinite Earths, Part Three, was there one that you were most passionate about including, and were there ones that you wished you could have featured? I was fascinated with how you guys brought in Super Friends, did you have to go about it a different way to still make it look like the original series, but also somehow make it fit into the Tomorrowverse-style?

Butch Lukic: We did a three-one movie cut for all three, so that will be out, is that what you're asking? Yeah, it's official, we did a cut that fuses all three films together. I pitched something a while back when these things were finishing to do something more retro, but I don't know if that's ever going to come about. What's important right now is the James Gunn universe, and for them to see that through, and hopefully, it's hugely successful and it works well.

We'll just see how it works in the next few years as far as if fans think it was better than what they originally thought or not. If it isn't, then it'll just stay in the dust spinner history. But then again, you've had Batman: The Animated Series, the most beloved DC animated thing that they've ever had, but they've never gone back to redo it. Except now Batman: Caped Crusader, but that's not really the same thing.
