Four protesters stormed the Wellington Straight
Six protestors from Just Stop Oil are due in court tomorrow, Tuesday January 24, charged over the invasion of Silverstone Racetrack during last year's British Grand Prix. A number of activists from the group sat down on the track after the race was red flagged following a crash.
All six pleaded not guilty to the charges of conspiring with others to cause a public nuisance and causing a public nuisance at the same court last November. Two of them have been in custody since the incident last July. The group were charged following the remarkable events of the British GP on July 3 2022. The race was red flagged within minutes of beginning after China's Zhou Guanyu horrific crash when his Alfa Romeo flipped over and crashed into a barrier.
Just Stop Oil, a climate activist group which wants the government to stop licensing new new fossil production, had already claimed responsibility. In a tweet the group wrote: "If you are more outraged about this disruption than our world being burnt before our eyes, then you need to get your priorities straight."
