Just in time for summer, the marine layer goes poof and temperatures rise [Breaking]
By the time the summer solstice occurs on Tuesday, San Diego County will have shifted away from chilly “June gloom” breezes to mostly clear skies, warm weather and, possibly, a hint of the monsoon moisture to come.
A high pressure system will settle over Southern California, lifting temperatures from the western beaches to eastern deserts. San Diego will hit 74 on Monday, 71 on Tuesday, 78 on Wednesday, 77 on Thursday, 76 on Friday, and 75 on Saturday. The seasonal average is 71. Inland valleys and foothills will climb into the 80s and 90s. And stray moisture out of the Gulf of Mexico could spark some random thunder showers in the mountains and deserts on Wednesday and Thursday.
Borrego Springs will hit 104 on Monday and become progressively hotter, topping out at 111 on Thursday, forecasters say.
