Royal AM has confirmed former Marumo Gallants tactician Dan Malesela has joined the club as its new head coach for the 2022/23 season.Malesela's appointment follows the appointment of Khabo Zondo as co-coach. Club owner Shawn Mkhize clarified that the club will adopt a similar co-coach structure that will see three coaches working alongside each other at the helm.
Dan Dance's exit from Marumo came as a shock after not only securing a DStv Premiership top-eight finish but also guiding Gallants to a Nedbank Cup Final where they fell 2-1 to league champions Mamelodi Sundowns. Royal AM meanwhile also had a stellar debut campaign in the top flight, finishing third in the DStv Premiership, just two points behind second-placed Cape Town City.
The co-coach structure has been utilised for the past two seasons by Mamelodi Sundowns who have Steve Komphela, Rulani Mokwena and Manqoba Mnqithi working together at the helm.
