While officials attempted to stick to the facts of the case while trying to hold it together, an excruciating task, family members took to social media to share their grief and struggles to find loved ones in the aftermath. Shortly after the shooting, Laura Mejia shared a photo to Facebook of her cousin XJ — posing while wearing a yellow soccer jersey at a local Burger King — asking for help locating the young boy. “Please help us,” she wrote.
By early evening, one of the adult victims of the shooting had been identified as Eva Mireles, 44, a fourth-grade teacher at Robb Elementary. An individual who answered a phone call placed to Mireles’ husband, Ruben Ruiz, told Rolling Stone that the family was uninterested in speaking with the media.
