The construction worker who died in a workplace incident on the North Slope on June 5 has been identified as 23-year-old Adam Trujillo of Soldotna. His father remembered his only son as his family grieves his loss.

According to Trujillo’s father, Jim Trujillo, Adam was working for Chosen Construction Inc. as a welder’s helper while attending classes at Kenai Peninsula College. He was working to become an operator on the North Slope.

“He enjoyed fishing, hunting, just a normal Alaska boy,” Trujillo said. “He liked to fish sockeye when it came in on the river... he’s just an average fun-loving big ol’ kid.” The family has not yet organized a memorial service for Adam, as they’ve been working to get his remains returned home. Adam was killed on the job at the Central Compression Plant in Prudhoe Bay, a main hub of Alaska’s oil and gas industry.
