Asael Paul Lyman, 73, was arrested for negligently operating a vehicle resulting in death, driving under the influence, reckless driving, and several driving infractions after striking and killing Nile Thacker in a West Jordan crash on Dec. 1, 2022. According to police, Lyman was operating a Dodge pickup while accused of being under the influence when he exited 9000 South at Bangerter Highway, crossed all westbound lanes, and struck Thacker's Cheverolet Colorado.Utah toymaker's life celebrated by producing hundreds of wooden carsIt was later revealed that Thacker was on a pre-Christmas run to deliver handmade toys when he was killed in the crash.
At the time of his death, Thacker was working as a supervisor and toymaker at Tiny Tim's toy factory, an all-volunteer and non-profit organization located next to South Valley Regional Airport in West Jordan.
