AKRON, Ohio - Late Wednesday evening, the jury deliberating in the death penalty phase for the Canton man convicted of killing a 43-year-old Akron dad and his 22-month-old daughter recommended life in prison, with parole eligibility after 30 years.

Shawn Allen was convicted on May 26 on the charges of aggravated murder, murder and tampering with evidence. The death penalty phase of the trial began June 13.on the sidewalk in the 400 block of Crouse Street in Akron when Allen ran them over with his Cadillac Escalade on July 12, 2020. Detectives said Lee and Allen were involved in a fight at Euro Gyro on E. Exchange Street moments before the murders.

“From the onset of this senseless tragedy, detectives were in tireless pursuit of the suspect or suspects responsible for this crime.
