A jury on Wednesday found former NFL player Travis Rudolph not guilty of all charges in his murder trial.

After listening to witness testimony, closing arguments and the former FSU and NFL player himself over the span of a few weeks, the jury began deliberation around 10:30 a.m Wednesday morning. The jurors returned their decision at about 2:10 p.m.

When the last not guilty decision was read aloud by the judge, Rudolph stood up and was embraced by those around him. Rudolph was charged with one count of first-degree murder and three counts of attempted murder after he fired numerous shots at four men in a car as they left his home on the night in April 2021.

The prosecution said the men had gone to Rudolph's house in Lake Park to talk with Rudolph after he allegedly mistreated his girlfriend. The defense claimed Rudolph fired the shots in self-defense after the men attacked him and his brother.Rudolph also remained consistent with his testimony throughout the trial that two of the four men allegedly pointed guns at him during the altercation.
