Amarion Sanders argues that he killed 39-year-old Derek Driskill in self-defense, claiming that Driskill threatened him with a gun.CLEVELAND, Ohio – A jury on Wednesday began deliberations in the trial of a Cleveland man who said he acted in self-defense when he fatally shot a motorist after a road rage incident.
A confrontation ensued. After exiting his Mercedes, Driskill went back and retrieved a gun with a live round in the chamber, according to defense attorney Patrick Leary. At some point, Sanders exited the Focus with a gun in his pocket. Assistant Cuyahoga Prosecutor Mason McCarthy countered that Sanders shot Driskill with calculation and forethought.
During the confrontation, Driskill never waved or pointed the gun, nor did he make an aggressive move, McCarthy said.
