AKRON, Ohio — An Akron man accused of the 2020 fatal shooting of a 21-year-old man as he sat in a vehicle was convicted Tuesday by a Summit County jury of murder and other charges.

Kashmair Mingo, 23, was found guilty of murder, aggravated robbery, obstructing justice, and having a weapon under disability, according to a news release from Summit County Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh. Prosecutors say that on Dec. 3, 2020, Tyraye Carter was shot several times while sitting in his car in the area of Tampa Avenue and 28th Street S.W. in the Kenmore neighborhood. Two other suspects, Javion Rankin, 21, and Donrell Davis, 23, both of Akron, also have been charged in connection with the shooting.

Rankin and Davis each are charged with aggravated murder, two counts of murder, and aggravated robbery, all with gun specifications.. Rankin is also charged with having a weapon under disability.Visiting Judge Edward O’Farrell is scheduled to sentence Mingo on Dec. 30.
