Klopp backs Gravenberch's decision to stay on Merseyside during the break and reveals a special message he relayed to his new-look squad
Jurgen Klopp says he can understand the Netherlands' frustration with Ryan Gravenberch over his decision to snub Under-21 duty in favour of settling on Merseyside during the international break.
Gravenberch's choice was questioned by both Dutch Under-21 boss Michael Reiziger and senior coach Ronald Koeman but Klopp says the versatile midfielder made the right call to ease himself into his new surroundings on Merseyside. "I wouldn't want to choose one [as his best quality]. The package is interesting. He is good in small spaces and that's now special and in big spaces, he can accelerate, he has a really good overview, he is a good passer, a good shooter. The full week in training now, everyone knows now he is really skillful and he always was.
Liverpool's summer transfer business means the Reds have something of a new-look about them this term having added a quartet of new midfielders to the ranks at a time when James Milner, Jordan Henderson, Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Fabinho and Roberto Firmino have all left.
