Jurassic World Rebirth will feature unused material from Michael Crichton ’s 1990 sci-fi novel, and now we know exactly what scene it is. In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, producer Frank Marshall revealed that the upcoming movie will adapt the infamous T-Rex chase scene from the novel.
For those unfamiliar with the scene, it sees Alan Grant and John Hammond’s grandchildren Tim and Lex attempting to float through a lagoon on a rubber raft, all while trying to avoid waking up a sleeping T-Rex. Things predictably go awry, leading to a thrilling chase sequence. Interestingly, this scene also served as a major inspiration for the Universal Studios ride Jurassic Park: The Ride. Set five years after the events of Jurassic World Dominion, Jurassic World Rebirth takes place in a new environment deemed inhospitable to dinosaurs. The synopsis reads, “Five years after the events of Jurassic World Dominion, the planet’s ecology has proven largely inhospitable to dinosaurs. Those remaining exist in isolated equatorial environments with climates resembling the one in which they once thrived. The three most colossal creatures within that tropical biosphere hold the key to a drug that will bring miraculous life-saving benefits to humankind.” The film stars Scarlett Johansson as the skilled covert operations expert Zora Bennett, and Jonathan Bailey as paleontologist Dr. Henry Loomis.
