The Jurassic World franchise gets a fresh start with 'Jurassic World Rebirth,' an upcoming film that introduces an all-new cast and takes audiences back to the original Jurassic Park research facility. Screenwriter David Koepp, who penned the first two Jurassic Park films, returns to helm this reboot, promising a return to the spirit and tone of the original movies.
A new era is dawning in the Jurassic World franchise with the upcoming film ' Jurassic World Rebirth .' Universal Pictures released the film's first full trailer on Wednesday, introducing us to a fresh cast of characters and setting the stage for a reboot of the multibillion-dollar franchise following the less-than-stellar reception of ' Jurassic World Dominion.
' This new chapter also marks the return of screenwriter David Koepp, who penned the first two iconic films in the series, 'Jurassic Park' (1993) and 'The Lost World: Jurassic Park' (1997), both directed by Steven Spielberg. Koepp expressed his excitement to Business Insider about returning to the beloved franchise and the opportunity to start anew after the conclusion of the second trilogy led by Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard. He explained that the chance to tweak the tone and introduce all-new characters was incredibly appealing. His goal is to recapture the spirit and tone of the original two films, citing them as some of his most enjoyable writing experiences. 'Rebirth' follows a team of intrepid explorers: paleontologist Henry Loomis (Jonathan Bailey), covert operations expert Zora Bennett (Scarlett Johansson), and team leader Duncan Kincaid (Mahershala Ali). Their mission takes them to the original Jurassic Park research facility where they must retrieve DNA from three of the most formidable dinosaurs – creatures deemed too dangerous for the original park – for crucial medical research. Koepp has woven his deep respect and understanding of Michael Crichton's books and the original Jurassic Park franchise into the new film. He previously hinted that 'Rebirth' would feature a sequence from Crichton's original book that was unfortunately cut from the previous movies. The film also boasts more explicit connections to the first movie, with Bailey revealing to Vanity Fair that his character shares a link with Sam Neill's Dr. Alan Grant. Although 'Rebirth' presents an original story not directly based on any of Crichton's novels, Koepp meticulously reread both 'Jurassic Park' novels before writing and incorporated numerous elements from them. He marvels at the richness of Crichton's work, calling it 800 pages of incredible moments, groundbreaking research, and truly remarkable ideas. Despite the limited information available about the film, Koepp remains enthusiastic about the final product. 'I'm delighted about it,' he shared. 'I haven't seen it yet, but I can't wait.'
