Junior doctors are seeking pay restoration following more than a decade of real terms pay cuts, which has seen wages fall by more than 26 per cent since 2008. The BMA has repeatedly called on the Government to reverse the pay cuts,and alleviate the staffing crisis which it says is preventing the NHS from tackling record waiting lists and giving patients the care they need.

More than 125,000 operations and appointments were cancelled in the first full walk-out in the history of the health service, which lasted two days.which gave them an 8.2 per cent pay rise over four years.
