Junior doctor strikes will lead to routine surgeries being cancelled with emergency care prioritised during four-day walkout beginning tomorrow
The NHS doctors are walking out in the latest dispute over pay and conditions which could cut as much as half of the workforce.
The strike among NHS England staff could affect as many as 250,000 cancellations when it commences at 7am on Tuesday. The latest strike comes four weeks after the BMA began a controversial campaign which claimed that the new medics earned less than baristas at Pret A Manger. NHS Confederation chief executive Matthew Taylor told Sky News: "It is going to be an incredibly tough week. There will be 10-11 days where the NHS is not able to operate at full strength".
The chief added: "There is no point in hiding the fact that there will be risks to patients", later warned the public to avoid risky behaviour.A junior doctor holds a placard calling for fair pay during their last strike in February.
