Live music, free food and scholarships among a variety of activities to celebrate...

with a variety of vendors and volunteers on June 17 at Pearland Town Center, 11200 Broadway.

Open to the public, the celebration will kick off with a unity walk from 8-9:30 a.m. followed by free drinks and snacks as well as activities for kids. "We want everyone to come together and find a place to express themselves and celebrate the progress of African Americans over the years," said Andrew Earls, NAACP Brazoria County's treasurer and a board member on the committee, which is also known as the Brazoria County Voter Initiative.Later in the day, the city of Pearland and Visionary Outreach Inc. will present the second annualLocal comedian Marcus D. Wiley will host the event from 6-9 p.m.
