Enjoy L.A.’s June gloom weather — and think of folks in New York City where Canada’s fires have created smoky gloom.
Residents of the West San Fernando Valley couldn’t figure out what they were hearing scrambling across their roofs late on the night of June 6. It was, well, rain. Or as the weather experts say, drizzle. By Wednesday, June 7, Los Angeles warmed up to a chilly 69 degrees, and smog levels were low. Even DTLA’s skyscrapers were nestled in the thick atmosphere.

June’s low clouds are widely seen as “natural AC.” The fluffy clouds also protect Angelenos from the sun’s intense rays. June gloom followed an unusually cool and cloudy “May gray” filled with endless low clouds that normally stick to the beach areas.
