Less than four-tenths of an inch of rain is needed to secure one of the wettest July sANCHORAGE, Alaska - For the third year in a row, Anchorage’s July rainfall total will be one of the top-10 highest on record. While the month started off on the drier side, a shift in our weather pattern has been leading to cooler and wetter conditions. This has been beneficial for wildfire weather across the state, as the growth of wildfires has slowed greatly.

There is a flood advisory for the Yentna River near Lake Creek until this afternoon. Minor flooding has occurred in this year, with water levels expected to recede through the day.Isolated showers and overcast skies can be expected for your Monday, with the bulk of rain for the Panhandle arriving into the evening. With rain in the forecast, temperatures will be on the cooler side for the next couple of days.

Much of this week will stay on the cooler side, with highs in the 50s and 60s. However, by week’s end, temperatures should warm back into the upper 60s and lower 70s.Cooler weather has returned to the Slope, with foggy skies and highs in the 30s and 40s. While today and tomorrow largely remain on the drier side, rain looks to arrive for the Slope by the middle of the week. While this will keep temperatures on the cooler side, there’s signs of highs back in the 50s as the weekend arrives.
