Julian Assange returns to Australia a free man
WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange plans to savor his time as a free man by taking daily dips in the ocean, sleeping in a proper bed and eating real food, his wife said after he returned home to Australia .Now freed from the British prison where he was fighting extradition to the US for the past five years, Assange has big plans to “rest and recover,” his wife, Stella Assange, said Thursday,“He is just savoring freedom for the first time in 14 years,” she said.
Assange pleaded guilty to obtaining and publishing classified American military secrets in a US federal court in Saipan, the capital of the Northern Mariana Islands, on Wednesday – putting an end to his 12-year legal saga. He declined to speak to reporters while leaving the courthouse and has not made any public comments since his release.Assange reportedly requested the hearing in the far-flung US territory due to its proximity to Australia, and distance to mainland America.
Under the terms of the plea, Assange won’t spend another day behind bars after he received credit for the time he spent in a high-security British prison.Chilean actor found dead in Colombia after Tinder date with two womenSwifties are convinced Taylor Swift’s middle name led to Travis Kelce’s ‘Alice in Wonderland’ epiphany
