Is it an exaggeration to say that Anne Hathaway changed lives when, this past May, she wore a $158 Gap dress with a sapphire-and-diamond Bulgari choker? I think not. The high-low look electrified longtime devotees of the movie star’s style. Hathaway is known for churning out high-end look after high-end look on the red carpet , and fans jumped at the chance to get their hands on the starch white shirtdress, an offering from Gap’s newly minted creative director, Zac Posen.
Rather than rely on jewelry to pack a punch, Fox made a different kind of fashion statement via a white headscarf that tied into a bow behind her neck, topped off with a tennis green wide-brim hat. She continued to play with shapes and textures with other elements of her look, from sheer white opera gloves to a sculptural clear purse, the latter of which casually held a few $100 bills. She completed the look with white pumps.
