The board voted 6-1 Thursday to extend Superintendent Milton Fields’ contract to 2028 to give him time to meet their newly approved strategic goals.
The Judson Independent School District board has extended Superintendent Milton Fields ’ contract to 2028, the year the district’s newly approved planning document, the “strategic scorecard,” expires. On Thursday, a week after approving a set of goals for the district to achieve by 2028, trustees voted 6-1 to extend Fields ' contract by two years without a pay bump.
Months prior, Ball, a popular but controversial superintendent, resigned after a hastily negotiated $140,000 contract buyout, ousted just weeks after the district convinced voters to pass its largest bond election in history. Ball lost the support of a majority of trustees over issues that have never been publicly discussed. She is now the Southwest ISD superintendent. On Wednesday, Judson ISD trustee Jose Macias said his vote of confidence in Fields was a vote for stability.
