The former Houston Cougar has found his new home in San Marcos.
– The NCAA transfer portal season is in full swing and plenty of big-name players are finding a better fit for their talents.
Former Judson High School linebacker, Treylin Payne, has decided to leave the University of Houston and come a little closer to home, transferring to Texas State University.KSAT’s RJ Marquez tweeted out the update from sources close to the Bobcats football program and Payne then retweeted RJ’s tweet:Payne comes to Texas State after two seasons at UH, where he racked up 49 total tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, one sack, and one interception.
He had 366 tackles, three sacks, seven pass breakups, and two interceptions from his sophomore to senior seasons at Judson and will look to strengthen the defensive core thatAnother big local name who also announced he’s transferring out of the Houston Cougars program is former Wagner High School wide receiver, Joshua Cobbs, who is taking his talents to the University of South Florida.
It’ll be an interesting offseason on USF’s campus as Cobbs will have to battle for playing time against other transfer wide receivers like Abdur-Rahmaan Yaseen, who comes in after catching 34 passes for 456 yards through four seasons at Purdue University.Nick Mantas is a KSAT 12 Sports Editor.
