Judges Anton van Zyl, Siraj Desai and Jacqueline Henriques delayed decisions.
According to the judicial norms and standards laid out in 2014 by Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng, judges are expected to deliver judgments within three months of the last hearing.
Among the 87 late reserved judgments, Judge Anton van Zyl of Pietermaritzburg High Court was responsible for four overdue judgments, including one that was reserved for judgment five years ago, and another six years ago. Acting Judge Keith Engers of the Western Cape High Court has been reported to the bar council, and will not be invited back to act in the division, according to Judge President John Hlophe.
