Michael Conlan was AHEAD on all three judges' scorecards before he was sensationally knocked out by Leigh Wood. The home fighter produced an incredible flurry of punches that sent the Irishman through the ropes and out of the ring. Referee Steve Gray immediately waved the bout off, with Wood defending his WBA featherweight world title in a 'Fight of the Year' candidate.
However, had he not secured the finish in the 12th round, he could've lost his belt - with each of the three judges having Conlan in front at the time of the stoppage. But he issued an encouraging update as he called for a rematch. In a video message, he said:"Congrats to Leigh Wood, congrats to his team, that was the best shot of the night he got me with at the end. But it is what it is, I'll be back.
