A major lobbyist for Black Lives Matter groups wins in court after being sued by some Black Lives Matters chapters.
Citing free-speech grounds, a judge has dismissed a lawsuit filed by a coalition of Black Lives Matter chapters against the, which was accused of defrauding the local activist groups and other claims.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Stephanie Bowick heard arguments on the case in April, took the case under submission and issued her ruling on Tuesday, June 27. The plaintiffs alleged that the BLM Global Network Foundation, a lobbying organization and clearinghouse for donations to support BLM over the years, had fundraised off of the work of the chapters, mismanaged the funds and shut local chapters out of decision-making.
