Donald Trump’s Georgia election interference case will almost certainly be delayed until after the November election.
Judge Scott McAfee said he would not work on the case until the Georgia Court of Appeals holds a hearing on removing District AttorneyWednesday, McAfee confirmed he had stayed all proceedings related to Trump’s Georgia case. In a reversal of plans, no hearings will be held or other work on the case will be done until a Georgia appeals courtThe hearing on Willis’s conflict of interest is set for Oct. 4, making it virtually impossible for the case to be brought to trial before the Nov.
Trump’s legal team has alleged there was a conflict of interest following revelations of a secret relationship between Willis and her hired special prosecutor, Nathan Wade. An appeals court will hear the case against Willis on Oct. 4. Seven defendants in the Fulton County election case could still see their cases go to trial, as they did not seek to challenge Willis’s displacement as DA.
The news comes as a blow to Willis, who will not be allowed to challenge the move and will have no legal recourse.
