The rape case against former BYU wide receiver Parker Kingston was dismissed without prejudice after the state attorneys requested a two-month continuance. They asked for the trial to be moved to September, with the option to delay the case into October, if needed. In his ruling, Judge Jay Winward was skeptical that the alleged victim would be ready for trial in September, having already granted previous continuances. Without any assurances that the trial would move forward in the fall, Winward denied the state's request for a two-month continuance.

Prosecutors requested a status hearing to be scheduled next week; However, Judge Winward also denied that option.

"The state is not ready. The victim is unprepared to testify, and that's ok," said Judge Winward.

"The case is dismissed without prejudice. "A legal victory in the wrongful death lawsuit filed by the family of two people who were killed by a drunk driver in the fall of 2021.
