A Nevada state judge has dismissed the indictment against Republicans accused in a 2020 fake electors scheme, ruling prosecutors filed it in the wrong venue.
A Nevada state judge dismissed a criminal indictment Friday against six Republicans accused of submitting certificates to Congress falsely declaring Donald Trump the winner of the state’s 2020 presidential election, potentially killing the case with her ruling that state prosecutors had filed it in the wrong venue. The judge called off the trial, which had been scheduled for January, for defendants that included the state GOP chairman and national party committee members. Each was charged with offering a false instrument for filing and with uttering a forged instrument, felonies that carry penalties of up to four or five years in prison.
